Day 23

Anyone who didn't get feedback talked to Mr. Neale. People who got their feedback worked on improving and testing their design. We spent the whole class finishing our final draft.

Day 22

Today in class we all had our finished amp designs to show to Mr.Neale. Everyone got feedback from him to make changes to our ideas to make them better.

While people were talking to Mr.Neale others were working on furthering their design or making a prototype to see if it will work.

Day 21

We started off the class by looking at the kamon display.  This is what they looked like.

Then we learned new ways to make shapes in Fusion 360, such as sweeping by watching video tutorials.

To sweep, we had to make a sketch of a shape and draw a line that intersects that shape.

Here are the shapes that I made.

Day 20

Day 20 D-Fab

Today Mr. Neale gave us time in class to work on our passive amplifier design on a software called Fusion 360.

As the first task of the class, we shared our roughly drafted designs to a classmate for a peer feedback session. The feedback was then used or at least considered for the next prototype.

Through Mr. Neale's helpful instruction and advice, we got methods of actually creating the design in real life.

The homework for this class was:

-The completed final design
-The exploded view of the design

Day 19

D-FAB DAY 19

In todays class we worked on our draft for the passive amplifier project. We continue to work on our knowledge of the tools in fusion 360. We used all of the tools we know how to use and incorporated them into our design.

In my design I used the loft tool to create the pathway for sound, and the chamber tool to make it look a bit more interesting.

We still continue to work on combining form and function into our projects. Next class we will get feedback for our design and make modifications.

Day 18

Today, we practiced using different useful tools on Autodesk Fusion 360.

First, we watched tutorials created by Ms. Sutter, another design and art teacher.

Then, we practiced using the tools.

We started with the loft tool to connect different shapes together. We practiced connecting a circle with a rectangle in preparation for constructing our amplifier design.

Next, we practiced using the press/pull and shell tools to practice making the slot for the amplifier, and practice making the amplifier hollow, respectively.

Finally, we practiced using the split tool.

These tools were difficult to understand and utilize, but members of the class helped each other out to make it all work. It was a Monday, but everyone pulled through!

Day 17

Today we shared our finished presentations with the class. After a long period of preparation, it was time to share what we've been creating.

First to go up was Takuma's group. Their idea was to hang the Kamon on a string, and using magnets, they'd put them on all the windows. But as some teachers wouldn't want wooden circles on their windows, the idea didn't make it to the finals.

Next we had James' group, whose idea was to hang the Kamon above the stairs. After closely looking at this idea in action, the idea was put into the finals.

Next was Miki's group, who sadly, only consisted of Miki. Her idea was to put the Kamon into a cherry blossom formation to keep with the Japanese Theme. But after putting it into practice, we realized the idea was a little out of reach. It did not make it to the finals.

Right after was Sean's group. Their idea was to cut the acrylic parts of the table in the CAD building and fit them with our Kamon. This cool idea made it straight to the Finals.

Finally was Kai's group. Their idea was to stick the Kamon onto the walls of the stairs with Velcro Tape so other items could easily come on and off as the year went on. They also made it to the finals.

But in the end, after a convincing class vote, Mr. Neale chose Sean and Megumi's group as the winners. They won the prize of two ¥750 tickets. Congratulations!!!!
