Day 28

For today, April 26th, the Design Fab students continued what we were doing in the last class, which was presenting our amplifiers to the class.

Student's presented their inspiration, design ideas, and more as they explained in depth how they started this amplifier project to now. In the second photo, this student displays her final product for the class. This project has helped the students get a better understanding of the functionality of amplifiers, and what it takes for the amp to make a very effective and efficient sound.

During class, most people were able to present. Today, we had 9 out of 16 of the students speak today, they were: Lucy, Risa, Rona, Bridget, Sean, Akira, James, Nicolas, and Taichi. Their presentations were very well prepared, and they all had very cool design.s Looking forward to observing the other students' final designs that were not able to go in class today. Below, are some of the pictures of the slides presented in class today.

Day 27

As we come to a close on our acoustic speaker project, the class was divided.

One group was finished their project and adding their final touches. They were hard at work as today would be the last time they had class time to work on their speakers.

Next where the people who had just finished. They were in the back room with Mr. Neale testing their projects to see if their hard work actually paid off. Mr. Neale was checking how loud the speaker actually amplified sound. He did this by measuring a baseline phone sound without a speaker, then measuring the same sound inside the speaker.

The last group of people were practicing for their presentations. The requirements were that you shared your project and portfolio with the whole class in no more or less the 3 minuets. Today's speakers were Arman, Sylvan, and Louis. All of them had excellent presentations and designs that clearly represent the hard work put into building these cool speakers.

Day 26

Today in class, we had a building day. Everyone should have started building and refining their creations today, and some finished their products as well.

Some of us used laser cutters to cut acrylic and wood for assembly.

Here we see students working on constructing their amplifiers.

Some of us also worked on the aesthetic features of our finished products. Below we see a 3d printed piece being painted.

We also used a tool to measure the decibel increase of our amplifiers.

Day 25

This class, we finished up the last touches on our designs, and moved on to construction.

On Fusion 360, many people worked on finishing the orthographic view of their amp, which is important to the construction process as it gives exact dimensions for the prototype.

Today, a number of people also began the construction of their product. In the design lab, there are a number of different tools that are available for our construction of the amp.

Some people worked with hand tools to cut large pieces of wood, while some used the 3D printer, some worked with acrylic, and others prepared Adobe Illustrator files for the laser cutter.

Day 24

Day 24: Design and Fab

Today, a lot of people were making their drawing view for their measurements. While some started building. Mr. Neale showed us how to do the drawing view of our design, and how to show the measurements. The whole class was for finishing up the last touches. For me, I was finishing the measurements for my exploded view of my design.

Most people were on their computers finishing their designs.

Next class, after the break, most people will be finished with their design and start building on the 3D printer, the laser cutter, and more.
